About Us

First, the main goal of our group is about fun. Our group isn't out there looking for someone who has the highest score, the best moves, kills the fastest, or last the longest. We're looking for people who we can enjoy playing with and have a general willingness to learn.

Secondly, we're looking for people who present themselves with dignity and honor. We want players who accept losing with honor and victory with class. Most importantly, we want people who understand this is just a GAME and not life or death.

Multi-player games require teamwork. If you're not interested in helping a buddy out in a jam, communicating with your partners, or getting along with other group members, this is not the place for you.

Finally, our group is composed of different people from different backgrounds with different interests. However, we all share the common love of the game. Civilized discussion of ideas is encouraged; however, one must respect different opinions.

We hope you like what you see here and want to join. This group, you will find, is like no other. We are the best group of players that have the most fun -- which doesn't necessarily reflect itself in the end result of a game.

Group Organization

The General Staff, which is composed of six officers, is responsible for various aspects of the group operation. The General Staff exist to perform the administration activities for the group; note that every group member has equal voice in determining the group direction.

Chief of Staff - handles the basic administrative duties and any oversight tasks.

Information Officer - is responsible for disseminating information via the web site and performing web site updates/maintenance as needed.

Operations Officer - is in charge of setting up games within the group and on occasions with other Clans/groups.

Training Officer - generates and promotes new tactics and provides the information to group members. He is also responsible for scheduling training sessions for new and existing members.

Membership Officer - is responsible for all aspects of recruitment and new member tracking and activities.

Mediating Judge - deals with matters of misconduct and violation of the ideals of fair and honorable play. In all cases, the Mediating Judge will investigate, deliberate and tender a recommendation and/or verdict.

Each of the members of the General Staff may appoint up to two other "Officer Assistants" to help them in their duties.

No ranking system (based either on skill or tenure) currently exists for group members.

Standards of Conduct

Members of the Magic Players Party are expected to present themselves with honor and dignity to others. This is a simple matter of common courtesy and respect for others.

We expect our members to game on a regular basis, attend group functions, volunteer for instruction or take part in that instruction. We only get better by helping each other.

All members shall abide by the Magic Players Party Charter.

Fair Play Rules

Fair Play Rules (FPR) is a set of rules for AOE Matches, which was made by a group of players in want of a way to stem cheating, bad etiquette, and poor sportsmanship. We strive to apply these guidelines to all games which our members take part.

No cheating in any form, which include:
* Using a Trainer or any other program which changes the game, beyond its normal parameters.
* Purposeful, and or willful use or exploitation of any game-changing bugs.

Etiquette:
* No prolongation of defeat by methods such as: hiding units, continual pausing, or other similar techniques which only prolong a game where there is no hope of either a victory, or a stalemate.
* No nuking, disconnecting, booting players before the game starts, or changing teams mid-game (such as from 2v2 into a 3v1) with out the consent of your teammate(s).
* No using any of the above, or other methods to acquire unearned points, or the prevention of such losses in the rated rooms of the zone.
* No extended whining about game settings, continual messaging in caps, flooding of either messages, or taunts.

Alliances & Treaties

Magic Players Party has no designations within an Alliance -- either a clan is allied with Magic Players Party or it is not. Magic Players Party does not set any of our allies above any others.

Our definition of an "Alliance" is a friendly understanding between clans that each clan can expect its members to:
* Conduct themselves in a sporting manner.
* Not cheat in any way, shape or form as detailed in the Fair Play Rules.
* Display mutual respect by refraining from obscenities, taunting, or other forms of disrespect.
* Be able to game with each other in a fun, fair and friendly environment.
* Refrain from recruiting each other's members.
* Refrain from posting any harmful or derogatory material regarding each other or our members.
* Address all disputes between the leadership of the clans and not with individual members.

Further, agreement to an Alliance with us should be considered the utmost display of respect for another clan. For this reason we do not ally with just any clan. Such clans should hold themselves to the same high standards as us.

Magic Players Party does not acknowledge or honor Alliances in the form of:
* Participating in "Clan Wars"
* Automatically siding with an ally in regard to a dispute

The only "Treaty" that we acknowledge is one of Alliance. Treaties are simple verbal agreements of the parties involved to ally.

Any clan wishing to ally with Magic Players Party should contact the Chief of Staff.

Interaction With Other Clans

All Magic Players Party members are expected to respect other clans regardless of whether that clan is allied with us or not. Should other clans choose to incite incidents with Magic Players Party or its members these overtures should be ignored.

Magic Players Party has no enemies. While Magic Players Party may choose to not associate with another clan, no list or record will be kept of such clans. Further, while Magic Players Party may choose to not associate with a certain clan, this should have no bearing on that clan's individual members.

Magic Players Party members will refrain from:
* Posting malicious or harmful material on another clan's web site.
* Attempt to "hack" or otherwise compromise the security of another clan's web site.
* Publicly denounce or berate another clan or its members.
* Any group member which violates the above will be subject to reprimand.

Conversely, such actions by other clans directed at our group or any of its members will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to remove any posting from its message board or ban any person from its web site which the webmaster or any member considers derogatory or harmful.

Membership Rules

1. Members of Magic Players Party should not be a member of any other Clan although exceptions may be made provided that member can still be regular in attendance. Members are encouraged to use their "Magic_" name exclusively, "smurfing" is frowned upon.

2. Members should be available to game on a regular basis and attend "Magic Players Party Nights" where brief meetings will be conducted followed by gaming.

3. All members are expected to abide by the Magic Players Party guidelines, as well as other common rules of gaming etiquette (no flaming, flooding, bragging or other shows of disrespect).

4. Members should never show disrespect for any other member of the group and should address any disagreements within proper venues. Everyone is expected to resolve their disagreements as adults by discussing the issue with that person first. Any further grievance should be brought to the attention of Mediating Judge.

5. Magic Players Party business should never be discussed in public outside of group meetings or chats. While Magic Players Party has no secrets or anything to hide from other groups we do not need to have our dirty laundry aired in public.

6. Members who show inactivity or inadequate participation will be moved to the Inactive List. Inactive members have one month after that point to demonstrate they are still worthy of membership. After that point they will be removed from the roster and will need to re-apply to the group.

7. Members who wish to resign in good standing may be added, by a majority vote of the membership, to the "Alumni" list, which means they may re-activate their membership at any time.

8. Members who made contributions above and beyond the call of duty may be added, by a majority vote of the membership, to the "Honorary" list, which means they have a life-time membership.
